The International StarT Competition
The international StarT-competition will not unfortunately be organized in 2022-2023. We still encourage you to carry out StarT learning projects with your class or group.
The International StarT Competition is arranged annually to promote interdisciplinary and collaborative project-based learning around the world by the LUMA Centre Finland. The competition invites everyone to join us in sharing the joy of collaborative learning: Learning is sharing!
The StarT competition has two categories:
- Projects by teams of children and youth
- Best educational practices by teachers, instructors and other educators
The projects and the educational practices will be planned and implemented in learning communities such as a class, a school or a kindergarten. The best projects and best educational practices will be awarded annually.
Participate in StarT competition
To participate in the international StarT competition you only need to describe the projects and/or the best practice of your learning community through the online form during the reporting period.
We recommend that you subscribe to our newsletter to ensure that you will receive all the latest news from the reporting form opening, materials, support and trainings that LUMA Centre Finland and our collaboration partners offer.
Are you participating from Finland or one of our StarT partner countries?
In Finland we have a national selection, please report through the national form.
Our partner countries (Azerbaijan, China, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine or Vietnam) might have their own national selection and therefore all participants should report directly to their national StarT office. See the contact information here.
- The International LUMA StarT Award is awarded to three best StarT student projects internationally
- The International LUMA StarT Education Award is awarded to three best educational practices internationally.
We will also nominate the public’s favourites in the two categories. They will be given a special honorary diploma. In addition, every learning community participating in StarT will receive a diploma of participation.
